The Orange County Youth
Symphony Orchestra is very proud to be sponsored by the following
organizations and wishes to acknowledge the vital role they play
in making our orchestra and our performances possible.
Las Campanas is a countywide
organization that raises funds for programs, which promote the cultural
enrichment of Orange County's youth. Their support of the Orange
County Youth Symphony Orchestra makes possible a major orchestral
experience for the best of Orange County's young musicians in an
ensemble which studies, rehearses and performs the master composers
of the past and the leading composers of today.
Through the support
of Las Campanas, Orange County audiences have the opportunity to
hear one of the finest youth orchestras in the nation, both in public
concerts and in Young People's Concerts, which are presented in
the Orange County Performing Arts Center each year for the benefit
of students in Orange County schools.
The Orange County Department
of Education serves as a center for educational leadership and coordination
in order to provide the broadest possible range of services the
students in Orange County schools.
The Department of Education
is responsible for the interpretation and enforcement of state law
as directed by the legislature, the State Board of Education and
the State Department of Education. In addition, the department provides
many services which individual school districts would be unable
to support.
The Orange County Department
of Education has emerged as a vital agency, which works to assure
that the residents of Orange County will have an educational program
of the highest quality.
The Orange County Department
of education was one of the founding sponsors of the Orange County
Youth Symphony Orchestra in 1970.
The mission of the Conservatory of Music at Chapman University is to provide an outstanding
education for the professional and intellectual development of artists and scholars in a
supportive, rigorous liberal arts environment that enriches the human mind and spirit.
The Conservatory of music offers the bachelor of arts in music and pre-professional programs leading to the bachelor of music in composition, music education, and performance (conducting, instrumental, keyboard collaborative arts and vocal).
Chapman University first offered the bachelor of music degree in 1930-31, and has striven to present thorough music curricula, blended with liberal learning ever since. The university’s music facilities compare with institutions far larger in size and offer a fine setting for both instruction and musical presentations. The Conservatory of Music is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music.
The goal of the Friends
of the OCYSO is to provide both financial and organizational support
for the Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra. Through direct donations
and fundraising activities, this group has become a major fundraising
arm of the orchestra. Their efforts provide monies for the annual
fall auditions, concert programs, newsletters and promotional materials.
They also support special workshops and master classes for orchestra
members. In addition, all orchestra trips are partially underwritten
by the Friends, which substantially reduce the cost to individual
orchestra members and their families.
Members of the Friends
also donate their time to help with concert performances, retreats
and tours. In addition, they organize and host after-concert receptions
and dinners. This dedicated group provides all of the behind-the-scenes
effort required to make the OCYSO a first-class youth symphony orchestra.
